A-Rod's women are crawling out of the woodwork, including a musclebound model who up until recently had been dating much-loathed ex-ballplayer John Rocker.
Fitness model Alicia Marie called Alex Rodriguez a "sweetheart" and insisted that while they have spent time alone at her apartment, they are just "close friends."
Former stripper Candice Houlihan, however, readily admitted to a "two-night stand" with the Rodriguez in 2004, the year the Boston Red Sox won their first World Series in 86 years.
"I feel like I reversed the curse," Houlihan joked of her romps with the slugger, who is going through a bitter divorce.
Houlihan's claims came a day after Rodriguez's angry wife, Cynthia, served him with divorce papers accusing him of "extramarital affairs."
Rodriguez, a reputed serial seducer who has been linked to Madonna, has not filed a response - although friends told the Daily News on Monday that Cynthia went on a $100,000 spiteful spending spree in Paris last week.
Responding to an e-mail from The News, Marie said Rodriguez frequently visited her Chelsea apartment a few years ago to lend a sympathetic ear "when I had just gone through a separation and divorce."
"I am well aware that people will assume the absolute worst here, but Alex was, and to this day remains, just a close friend," wrote the 5-foot-10 brunette. "Friends hang out together in each other's apartments!"
Marie, who now lives in Atlanta, where Rocker used to pitch for the Braves and still lives, confirmed last night that while she "still loves the man New Yorkers love to hate," they recently broke up.
Rocker drew the city's wrath when he called Mets fans "degenerates" and said New York has too many "foreigners" in a 1999 Sports Illustrated interview.
"I am certainly not one of Alex's attention-seeking strippers," insisted Marie, who graduated from the University of Connecticut with a degree in neuroscience.
She said their admiration for each other is physical. "He admires people who work their bodies into perfection," said Marie, voted "Ms. Bikini Universe" in 2004.
While Marie denied any hanky-panky with Rodriguez, Houlihan eagerly admitted circling the bases twice with the third baseman - and said she was rooting for Cynthia in the divorce battle.
"A leopard doesn't change his spots," Houlihan, now a hairdresser in Boston Herald. "Good for her. I think she's doing the smart thing."
Houlihan said she met A-Rod at Fenway Park in July 2004 after she and some friends razzed him.
