Dr. Joe DeMarco
At Lift for Life, we take pride in featuring exceptional athletes who have not only achieved success in their competitive fields, but athletes who embody a higher standard of self discipline, athletes who are actively involved in helping others, athletes who lead by example. This month, our featured bodybuilding model of the month is no exception.
Dr. Joe DeMarco is a well rounded athlete with a successful competitive career in Gymnastics, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Bodybuilding. Complementing this physical resume however is the fact that the peak of Joe DeMarco's bodybuilding accomplishments have occurred after the age of 40 when most people are beginning to slip into low drive, and the fact the Dr. Joe is a VEGAN, eating no animal products. A physique of this caliber on a strict vegan diet takes exceptional discipline but Dr. Joe would have it no other way.
"I also love the personal discipline that is needed for the sport"
LT (Lemuel) Thomas
Some people are recreational athletes, occasionally playing sports to stay active or just have something to do. Others are more competitive, pushing themselves to the limit to see what they are truly capable of. Others still not only live the fitness lifestyle, they believe in it strongly enough to preach it with evangelistic fervor. Our current Bodybuilding Model of the Month LT (Lemuel) Thomas is a believer. LT admits that he has been involved in sports nearly all of his life, but his true passion is helping others to create their own fitness lifestyle.
"Fitness is my passion. I love seeing people improve their quality of life. I have a strong desire to help other reach their goals. I want to continue to change lives and be a health and fitness role model."
Amelia Powers
With a physique as feline as any jungle cat, confident piercing eyes that give no hint of weakness and enough charisma to overcome any obstacle, Lift for Life Model of the Month Amelia Powers looks like she just walked out of a James Bond movie.
No stranger to fitness, Amelia has been competing since the age of 16 in her native Peru where she claimed the title of Miss Fitness Peru nine times. An athlete from her youth, Amelia began weight training early which concerned her mother who feared that she would become "big". Predicting her own future, Amelia assured her mother that being fit was a part of her life and that she would always stay feminine.
Shannon Tweed
The career of this Playboy Playmate of the Year for 1982 indeed has consisted of many erotic or quickie action films often released direct-to-video. Nevertheless, the statuesque blonde former model has moved into more mainstream vehicles, particularly in the 1990s, even appearing on allegedly substantive TV series such as "Frasier" and "Wings". A cool yet soulful performer, Shannon Tweed has also starred in the cult classic "Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death" (1989), and opposite Andrew Stevens and Marc Singer in numerous soft-core thrillers....
Jennifer Connelly
Jennifer Connelly subsequently was featured in mostly forgettable teen fare, with the possible exception of Jim Henson's "Labyrinth" (1986), in which she was overshadowed by David Bowie and a cast of Henson creatures....
